Award-winning Team
Nathalya Ramirez, Rohan Patil, and Krishan Shah were awarded by The George Washington University New Venture Competition in 2018 for creating the best medical venture aimed at predicting early-stage agitation in patients to improve outcomes. Inspired by their family members that had dealt with disappointing levels of care, they decided to start Early Intervention Systems.
Nathalya Ramirez, Founder & CEO
Nathalya Ramirez was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. She moved to the US when she was 13 years old. While in high school, she played tennis and participated in many community service projects. She went to The George Washington University for college where she majored in Biophysics and minored in STEM teaching. High school physics taught for almost 3 years after graduation until she decided to focus on EIS full-time. Her hobbies include tennis (coaching and playing), exercising (mainly running, biking, and wakeboarding), food, traveling, and watching comedy stand ups. She decided to start EIS because as a family who witnessed healthcare disparities within the senior citizen and caregiver population. Through her grandmother and her caregiver, she learned that it takes more than community service to drive societal change. The senior industry has many opportunities to help with innovations like our software solutions. She cares from a personal perspective and wish to empower caregivers through technology to transform their day to day and to deliver the best care for the people they serve.
The EIS Origin Story
EIS was originally founded in 2018 as a student startup looking to prevent behavioral outbreaks. Rohan Patil, CTO and Co-Founder, recruited Nathalya and Krishan to apply for the GWU New Venture Competition. EIS ended up winning that competition which propelled them to further exploring the senior living space. Since the whole team were full-time undergraduate students, fundraising wasn’t an option at that time so the EIS team applied to over 50 startup competitions and grants to raise over $60,000 to build an MVP that can help Certified Nursing Aides (CNA’s) to better track activities of daily living. The original MVP showed some promising results which landed them a spot in Techstars Chicago Powered by JP Morgan Accelerator. The mentors provided through the program help EIS optimize their customer acquisition strategy, improve product strategy, and provide them the resources to attend key industry events.
